There are numerous benefits to owning a hybrid car, including state of the art technology and minimizing one’s carbon footprint. Lessening the amount of money spent on gas is an obvious financial motivation for choosing a hybrid, and now several insurance companies are creating incentives for drivers to buy hybrid vehicles as well. There are many reasons behind lowering premiums for hybrid car insurance.

Hybrid cars, being the newest on the market, have the most advanced technology out of any vehicle on the market, making the cars safer and more reliable than traditional vehicles. Buyers of hybrid cars are also probably buying new cars, which are much less risky to insure than a used car, or a car that a driver has owned for several years. Also, studies indicate that buyers of new cars are more likely to get the car serviced on a more regular basis than buyers of used cars or drivers who have owned the car for several years, as the dealer will often offer free scheduled maintenance on new car purchases.

As more auto companies switch to hybrid models as a long term business plan, buyers of the cars create a consumer loyalty to these brands. The insurance company in turn knows that they are creating a lasting customer base, by continuing to provide superior rates to the hybrid vehicle drivers. Insurance companies also see an opportunity to improve their own public image in encouraging the purchase of eco friendly cars. By providing incentives for drivers of hybrid vehicles, the company can appear to support fiscally responsible and environmentally friendly actions. This support could make the company appear to have a real interest in its clients and care about the world around them.

For the above reasons and many more, it makes sense that insurance companies offer incentives to buyers of hybrid cars. The companies know that hybrid cars are the future of the automotive industry, and offering discounts for their drivers is a good way to keep existing customers while attracting a new market of drivers.

Proud owners of hybrid cars have a right to be proud. They are getting where they need to go and helping to save energy.

When hybrid fans stop to admire your hybrid car, be prepared to show them the exterior features of the car, as well as taking a moment to answer any questions. Often the questions are about gas savings or miles per gallon. However, the occasional odd question may also be asked such as, “What’s in the trunk?”

Now why a person would think there could be some secret sauce or secret power source in the trunk I do not know. I guess we humans, by the nature of being so, are just curious creatures.

Some of the things a safety-wise hybrid car might carry include:

Tire jack – Yup, a flat tire can happen to anyone. It is best to be prepared in the event of an automotive or medical emergency on the road.

First aid kit – Buying a first aid kit and then never needing to use it is a good thing. Better that than finding you need supplies and not having them.

Flashlight – This item might be best hidden so that the kids do not know it is there. Yo do not want it to end up leaving the vehicle because some young person thought it might be good to have along on a weekend camping expedition into the backyard. You might never see it again. Be sure to check the batteries often, or replace them routinely, so that your flashlight lantern will be there when you need it.

Toolbox – A few miscellaneous tools can come in handy. Another smart thing to have might be a pocket knife. Just keep it in the tool kit, and you’ll always know it is there.

Traffic cone – An orange traffic cone is good to have in case you end up on the side of the road. Oft times we assume that if that were to happen, that we’d be off on the shoulder by the slow lane. However, it is just as likely that you could end up in the median with fast traffic whooshing by you. That makes a traffic cone a very good thing to have.

Emergency flares – These can come in handy for the same reason. Keeping them in your hybrid means that they are available if necessary.

By shopping online you can typically find great items such as these at favorable prices.

On the present vehicle market, there area rising number of hybrid electric cars for sale. There is no lack of choice, and the mileage-per-gallon is increasing at a daily rate with the advances in technology and experimentation. Another advantage is the relative out-of-pocket expense, which has reduced as more of these types of cars have come up for sale by dealers. Below are a few that you definitely want to check out.

The most popular hybrid electric car for sale is the Toyota Prius, which is seen often cruising on America’s highways. This car offers up to fifty miles-per-gallon, this car also gives the driver choice in how to drive the car making it even more friendly to environment. Its looks are open to controversy, but the latest model out in the near future is full of technological goodies that any driver will enjoy.

The Ford Fusion gets up to forty-one miles-per-gallon on the highway, and is full of new technology as well, with features giving you the fuel economy, information on the car’s functioning, and has increased the car’s overall horsepower. The Fusion is one of the many options in the new hybrid electric cars for sale right now.

Another model to consider is the Chevy Volt, which is coming on the market soon in 2010. This car features the ability to go for a full forty miles before its gasoline engine kicks in, and has advanced features that make it a contender in the market. One obstacle in its path is the price, which is around $39,000, which may be out of the realm of many’s budgets.

The ability to find a hybrid electric car that meets your needs and preferences is becoming easier with the wider range of choices becomming available in the automobile business.

How long has it been since you’ve seen an advertisement for an Eco-friendly car? Two, three minutes? As of late there’s been a war going on in the hybrid and diesel markets. At first there was the price war between the new Honda Insight and Toyota Prius to see who would be the cheapest. Each company doing their very best to one-up the other. Eventually Honda won this battle and beat the third-generation Toyota Prius to market on April 22, 2009. Also known as Earth Day. Although these are Eco-friendly cars, there were no friendships made in this battle and Toyota had the last laugh outselling the Insight significantly in its debut month of June by over 10,000 cars. With the government handing out $1,300 in tax incentives for these Eco-friendly cars, it’s no wonder why people are flocking to dealerships to get their hands on one.
Why hybrids? For whatever reason, Americans are in love with these little clean-machines and their clever advertising. We’ve forgotten about the diesel. Well, not entirely. Americans love a good diesel truck or tractor, but in a car? No way. Diesels are cleaner burning, more reliable and can achieve the same mpg as a hybrid without the premium cost of a hybrid (The Jetta TDI claims 41mpg on the highway whereas the Insight claims 43). The average new vehicle premium for a hybrid averages close to $5,000 compared to a $2,300 average premium for a diesel. Which means a diesel car will pay back the premium far faster than a hybrid and yet we’re still neglecting the diesel. Americans just aren’t ready for the switch to diesel. Eventually we will, but for now we will wage war on the Hybrid frontier as Toyota and Honda set the bar while the Americans now enter the fray.

If you are wanting to drive eco-friendly, there are a great number of new hybrid cars that are appearing on the market. They range in style, price, and features, but all have the same goal in mind – to keep our planet clean. More companies are taking the dive into this kind of technology as we transition from our gas guzzling past into a more earth friendly future.

The new hybrid cars come with the latest in safety features, such as side impact airbags and advanced design in their framework for the ultimate protection in the case of crashes. They are increasing the amount of mileage that the cars get on the highway and in the city with each new introduction, and with government support for funding and trade-ins, these numbers could go much higher.

Battery use mixed with ethanol or bio-diesel engines makes for fewer emissions into the environment, and use resources that we already have on hand. The hydrogen vehicles make this clean running capability even more eco-friendly. Companies such as Toyota, Nissan, and Chevy are bringing out newer versions of their first hybrids, or are showcasing new models that bring the technology to an even great level. The prices are also dropping on these cars, some going as low as $11,00 to $12,000 dollars. People responded in droves for the government’s “Cash to Clunkers” program, showing that America is ready for the new hybrid cars.

For anyone wanting to get into the driver’s seat of a new hybrid, this is a wonderful time to do so. The technology, economic advantages, and lower costs are making this opportunity a very real one. The most important aspect of this choice is in the immense, positive impact that we will have on the environment.

In the not-so-distant past, discriminating auto enthusiasts generally shunned hybrid cars. Performance was puny, selection was non-existent, and cost-effectiveness was discouraging. But the recent decade of rising demand for greener cars has driven innovation and competition resulting in a range of hybrids to suit most drivers and their pocketbooks.

Today’s hybrids with advanced battery packs, increasingly sophisticated electronic systems, and widely-praised aerodynamics are comparable to combustion-only counterparts in acceleration and payload.

There has never been such a wide selection of hybrid cars on the American market as the 2010 lineup. MSRPs range from $20,510 for the 2010 Honda Insight to $114,110 for the Lexus LS 600h L with Premium II package.

For the past several years American hybrid car shoppers have been demanding the same array of styles and features found in gasoline-powered vehicles. In 2010 models, the demand is met. Premium sound systems and a full array of features and accessories match gasoline-only vehicles. Family friendly hatchback, sporty coupe, luxurious sedan, SUV and even truck hybrids are available to the mass market. And now the Internet is abuzz with news of the soon-to-be available Karma S hybrid convertible from Fisker.

A decade ago only Japanese automakers were providing hybrid cars to the American market. US makers reluctantly joined the competition with Ford’s introduction of the hybrid Escape in 2004. Today hybrids are made for the American market in Europe. Soon South Korea and China will enter the fray. As more manufacturers from around the globe contribute offerings, the hybrid market will continue to diversify.

Hybrid cars still struggle to accomplish cost parity, but longer-lasting battery packs and ever-increasing fuel efficiency are closing the gap. That combined with various federal and state rebates and special incentives such as reduced registration fees make the cost of a clearer conscience more affordable.
